Data and scoring

BoatNGo scores how conditions work together.

A calm-looking day can still be rough for the wrong boat, inlet, wave period, tide stage, or exposure. BoatNGo is designed to evaluate the combination, not just one number on a forecast page.

Inputs can include NOAA/NWS and other marine-weather sources, forecast models, tides, currents, buoy or station context, alerts, depth, water context, boat type, boat size, and fishing-specific signals. Availability and source mix vary by area.

  • Wind speed, gusts, direction, and trend

  • Wave height, swell, wind waves, and dominant period

  • Tide and current timing where available

  • Water context: inland, nearshore, offshore, and Great Lakes handling

  • Marine and weather alerts, including safety-relevant watches and warnings

  • Boat type, size, exposure, and intended operating context

  • Fishing score inputs such as sea state, tide movement, water temperature, celestial timing, depth, shoreline distance, structure, and regional species fit
